Isaiah 61:1 – “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;”

John 10:11 – “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”

I. The Glory of the Lord brings Brightness to the Dark. (Luke 2:8-12)

Romans 5:8 – “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Acts 4:12 – “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.””

II. The Glory of the Lord is the Pleasure of Man. (Luke 2:13-17)

Luke 3:22 - “and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, ‘You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.’”

Luke 10:21 - “In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.”

Luke 12:32 - “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”

Philippians 2:13 - “for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.”

1 Timothy 2:4 - “who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

Ephesians 1:5 - “he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will”

Ephesians 1:9 - “making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ”

III. The Glory of the Lord Causes a Response. (Vs. 18-20)

James 2:5 “Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him?”

1 Corinthians 1:26–31 – “For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
